AESGP, the Association of the European Self-Medication Industry, is the official representation of manufacturers of non-prescription medicines, food supplements and self-care medical devices in Europe. It is composed of national associations and the main multinational companies manufacturing self-care products. In addition there are a number of sectoral associations and companies focusing on specific areas in direct membership.
AESGP is the voice of more than 2000 companies operating in the consumer healthcare sector in Europe, affiliated with AESGP directly or indirectly through the national associations. The AESGP constituency includes the main multinational companies as well as the European SMEs of the sector.
The association was founded in Paris on 3 February 1964 to contribute to the improvement of responsible self-medication and to promote the views and interests of the manufacturers of self-care products in Europe.
